On Monday, 23 June 2026, we held our first school mentorship programme at Southeastern Montessori Academy, Dodowa. The session took place in the school’s ICT laboratory and was attended by 70 students from Class Six to Senior High School Two (SHS 2).
Our founder, Raindolf Owusu, took the students through his journey, sharing how it all began at the age of 10 when he got his first computer, sparking his vision of putting Africa on the map through technology. He spoke about building a software company focused on telemedicine, artificial intelligence systems, and data collection platforms with facial recognition capabilities.
He also shared valuable insights on how using his vacation periods to study programming helped shape his future. He emphasized the importance of teamwork, problem-solving, and creating impact, principles that have helped him travel the world.
Students had the opportunity to try our AI-powered facial recognition attendance system and see firsthand how technology can digitize attendance processes. He also broke down what artificial intelligence means in simple terms and explained how it can transform Africa and the world. In addition, he highlighted several sectors that technology can disrupt and encouraged the students by explaining that getting started in technology can be relatively inexpensive, often requiring only an idea, internet access, and a laptop.
He ended the session by speaking about space exploration and why Africa’s participation in the space industry is important. Students who asked or answered questions received customized Black Orbit Foundation T-shirts featuring photos of the Artemis II crew and the Time magazine cover showcasing the AI Architects of 2025. He also shared websites and resources that the students can use to learn coding in a fun and easy way.
Our first outreach programme was a success, and we hope to visit many more junior and senior high schools to motivate and inspire students. We believe this initiative will go a long way toward raising the next generation of technologists, innovators, and space explorers.
