Black Orbit Foundation respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you visit blackorbitfoundation.org (the “Site”) or interact with our programs.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Who We Are

Black Orbit Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Ghana that inspires young Ghanaians aged 7 to 15 to become innovators, space explorers, and tech entrepreneurs through school mentorship programs and community activities.

Information We Collect

We currently collect information only when it is voluntarily submitted to us through forms on the Site, such as our “Get Involved” and “Contact Us” forms. These forms are intended for adults — parents, guardians, teachers, and school administrators — not for children. Information submitted may include:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Message content (e.g., a question, volunteer interest, or partnership inquiry)

Children’s Information

Our forms including “Get Involved” and “Contact Us” are intended to be completed by adults only, such as parents, guardians, teachers, or school administrators. Children are not permitted to submit these forms directly, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 18 through the Site.

A form submitted by an adult may reference a child (for example, a teacher registering their class for a mentorship program, or a parent inquiring on behalf of their child). In that case, we use any child-related details only to coordinate the relevant program and do not use them for any other purpose.

If we become aware that a child has submitted personal information directly through the Site, we will delete that information and, where possible, follow up with a parent, guardian, or teacher instead.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to inquiries, volunteer applications, and partnership requests
  • Coordinate school mentorship programs and community activities
  • Send updates about programs to those who have asked to be contacted
  • Maintain internal records of our outreach and impact

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.

How We Share Information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Site or run our programs (for example, our website host or email provider), who are only permitted to use the information to provide that service to us
  • Schools or partner organizations, where a submission directly relates to coordinating a program with that school or organization, and only with the knowledge of the person who submitted the form
  • Legal authorities, if required by law or to protect the safety of a child or member of the public

Third-Party Content

Our Site embeds content from third parties, such as YouTube videos. These third parties may collect information about your interaction with their embedded content according to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review YouTube’s privacy policy separately.

Data Retention and Security

We retain information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose it was collected for, or as required by law. We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information from unauthorized access, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your Rights

You may contact us to:

  • Ask what information we hold about you or your child
  • Request a correction to inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of information we hold

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
